Innov-X Systems is a business with its primary focus on the commercial sector. However, sometimes we come across really cool and curious applications that simply need to be explored. Admittedly, these applications lean towards the esoteric, but in the interest of expanding the human knowledge base, and satisfying our own curiosity, we try to lend support. On occasion, these studies even turn into viable commercial applications.
ARCHAEOMETRY: The application of physics and chemistry to investigate archaeological and historical objects benefits tremendously from portable x-ray techniques. Most governments will not allow investigators to remove materials from their original setting; and, sometimes the removal or even disturbance will destroy the value of the object. In-situ, non-destructive XRF analysis provides valuable information for the assessment of a site - where to dig next, the relationships among loci, the homogeneity of materials and more.
